Timothy William Lancey joined the heavenly choir of God on January 16, 2021.Tim was born to Rev. William L. Lancey and Margaret L. Lancey (Arms-Hill) on December 3, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York.He moved to Southern California and met Theresa in 1954.Age was not an issue and their love became blessed by God in marriage on October 19, 1956.
Tim's life was one of balancing a full-time job while attending school in the evenings. He graduated from CSULA with a B.A. He continued his education at the University of Southern California, earning a Masters and Ph. D in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the faculty at California State University, Fullerton in 1974, retiring as a full-professor in 2007.He achieved numerous awards and distinctions throughout his career. And even had the honor of working on the first space shuttle.Yet, his many achievements were nothing compared to his pride of raising four beautiful children- Mike, Anita, Chris and Bob along side his wife Theresa.Tim was a humble man and knew family was built upon the strength of two loving individuals. His desire to provide for his family was only exceeded by the affection he had for Terri. He never missed an opportunity to celebrate the love they shared. He knew that all the while he was focused on his ability to provide for the family- she was lovingly creating a home filled with joy and comfort for him to return to each evening.
As his children grew up - he took joy in holding each new grandchild and great-grand child when they were born into the family. He loved getting to know them, watching them grow and blossomed into their individual selves. He was an encouraging presence in their lives. He taught them to love and respect nature and could always be counted on to take them fly fishing whether just outside their home in Saint Anthony, ID or while camping in Yellowstone NP.
He was a man of many talents ---- becoming an accomplished choir member, fly fisherman, marathon runner, surfer, builder of bamboo fly rods and creating fishing flies. He enjoyed traveling to Hawaii where days were spent surfing and sunsets were spent with Terri. Together they ran many races all over Southern California.Although most fishing was done in the Snake River or in Yellowstone- Tim and Terri managed to fish and explore New Zealand on five different occasions.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 10 am at Ascension Cemetery. 24754 Trabuco Rd. With respect for all - a memorial will take place at a future time.
