Tsun-Sen Fu, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, in Laguna Hills, California. He was born on May 30, 1934, in Canton, China, and over the course of ninety-two remarkable years, he built a life defined by brilliance, humility, dedication, and a profound love for his family.

Tsun-Sen’s early years were marked by a commitment to learning and personal growth. He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Cheng Gong University in Taiwan, demonstrating early on a keen intellect and thirst for knowledge. He later pursued and earned his PhD from the University of Minnesota in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics, a testament to his determination and passion for innovation.

Before his long career in engineering, Tsun-Sen honorably served in the Coast Guard for one year while living in Taiwan. In 1968, Tsun-Sen embarked upon his distinguished professional journey with Teledyne Brown, where he worked until 1973. He then joined Rockwell International Space Division, remaining there until 1996, when the company was acquired by Boeing. He continued to contribute to groundbreaking work at Boeing, retiring in January 1999. Throughout his career, Tsun-Sen played instrumental roles in numerous transformative projects, including the Apollo Missions, the Space Shuttle program, and the Star Wars Defense System. His technical expertise and innovation were recognized when he was honored as a Technical Fellow after the Rockwell Aerospace Division joined Boeing.

Despite his towering achievements in aerospace, Tsun-Sen’s proudest accomplishments were far more personal: raising his family and creating a better life for them. He was a constant presence at important life events and many sporting activities for those he loved, embodying kindness, selflessness, and humility at every turn. His legacy is alive in the values he instilled and the unwavering support he provided.

Tsun-Sen’s vibrant interests and hobbies reflected his multidimensional nature. He enjoyed playing basketball, chess, go, bridge, and was passionate about teaching Tai-Chi. He was also a skilled Chinese brush painter and calligrapher, and found delight in listening to Chinese music. A devoted sports enthusiast, Tsun-Sen cheered for the Lakers, Angels, Dodgers, and Vikings, finding joy in both athletic competition and artistry.

Above all, Tsun-Sen was described as brilliant, hard working, athletic, and deeply loving toward his family. These qualities endeared him to all who had the good fortune to know him.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Mitzi Fu; his son, Mark Fu; his daughters, Marcia Brown and Jennifer Thies; and his precious granddaughters, Krista Brown, Kimberly Brown, Katherine Thies, and Abigail Thies. Their lives have been enriched by his guidance, warmth, and gentle spirit.

Family, friends, and all whose lives Tsun-Sen touched are invited to a Memorial Service honoring his extraordinary life on August 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at McCormick & Son Mortuaries, 25002 Moulton Pkwy, Laguna Hills, CA 92637. Those who cannot attend in person are welcome to join via livestream. A reception will follow at the same location, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Tsun-Sen Fu’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and cherished him. His legacy—of love, accomplishment, and quiet strength—will be carried forward by his family and remembered by many for generations to come.
