Virginia Abad Saing Marzo, affectionately known as Gigi, passed away peacefully in Laguna Hills, California, just after midnight on Saturday, October 10, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on December 28, 1940, in the Philippines.
Gigi will be remembered as a loving, faithful, and nurturing woman whose life was defined by care for others. She worked hard and never complained. Gentle, kind, and full of love and wisdom, she made those around her feel safe, comfortable, and deeply cared for. At the family home on Hendon Street, she was always the first one awake and the last one to sleep, quietly making sure everyone had what they needed. To those who knew her, she was a steady presence, a source of affection and attention, and truly an angel on earth.
A homemaker by vocation, Gigi gave her heart fully to the work of home and family. She loved to cook and made it look effortless, whether she was preparing a simple meal for those closest to her or preparing a feast for a full house with effortless grace. There was always a hot meal waiting whenever family came home or stopped by to visit, and that gift of welcome became one of the lasting comforts of her love. She raised the children of the Veneracion family—Glenn, Iris, and Kim—with devotion, tenderness, and strength, and she also cared for countless other children among friends and family who were fortunate enough to be in her orbit.
She took pride in the life she built and in the courage she carried. Among her proudest memories was bringing Iris back from the Philippines, facing the immigration officer with calm confidence and composure. She was also proud to become a United States citizen and to travel the world. One of her fondest memories was a trip to the Netherlands to visit her cousin Amaya.
Gigi’s joys were beautifully simple and warmly memorable. She loved eating vanilla Frosty’s from Wendy’s. She enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars. She loved her manicures and pedicures. She loved to sing, and she loved to cook—always turning ordinary moments into something nourishing and special.
She was also, unmistakably, a fighter. Over the last 20 years, Gigi survived two cancers and endured thrombocytosis, a serious blood condition that required ongoing treatment. Since 2023, she lived with a feeding tube, a Foley catheter, and oxygen support, bearing each hardship with remarkable endurance. She fought through so much because she wanted to remain with the people she loved—to protect them, care for them, and continue being their constant. That fierce devotion only deepened the love her family and friends hold for her.
Gigi is survived by her loving nieces Iris Veneracion-Vysotski and Kim Veneracion, who was not only her caregiver but the ying to her yang; by her nephew Glenn Veneracion, her grand protector; by her best friend, Sonia Jison Veneracion, her “sister” in America; by her sister Nancy Saing in the Philippines; and by her niece Nancy in the Philippines, her cousin Amaya in the Netherlands, Dr. Marivec Santos from California and of course countless cousins and friends that are not mentioned but are acknowledged here. The bonds she built with each of them were marked by loyalty, warmth, and lasting love, and her presence will remain woven into their lives forever.
She joins her sister Andring Saing and Ramon Veneracion in heaven.
A Memorial Service for Virginia will be held on October 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at McCormick & Son Mortuaries, 25002 Moulton Pkwy, Laguna Hills, CA 92637. A reception will follow from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the same location.
Gigi’s family takes comfort in knowing that she is now resting in heaven, watching over those she loved so well. Her life was a blessing, her care was a gift, and her memory will continue to live on in every shared meal, every song, every gathering, and every act of love done in her spirit.
