Walter 'Dale' Andersen was born on October 3, 1920 and passed away on June 8, 2015 at the age of 94 in Mission Viejo, California. Dale was predeceased by his wife Delores in 2011 and his youngest son David Leon Andersen in 1967. He is survived by his children Carolynn Blair, Ronald Andersen, Edward Andersen and Sondra Ballinger. Dale has 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Dale was born in Winner, South Dakota to parents Leon and Merle Andersen. He had two sisters Mineva and Belva. Dale joined the US Army Air Force in July 1942 and served in the Central Burma Campaign and earned the WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the American Campaign Medal. He earned the rank of Tech Sargent. After his discharge in 1946, Dale rejoined the US Air Force in 1949 and served in the Air Rescue Squadron and earned two additional service medals for the Occupational forces in Japan and the Korean Service Medal. When he left the USAF in 1952 he had attained the rank of Master Sargent.
Dale married his beloved Delores in 1947 on the very same day his best friend John Lear married Delores's twin sister Dorothy!
Dale was a convert to the Catholic Church and was well versed in Holy Scripture. He was honored to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone he met.
Services for Walter Dale Andersen will be held on June 18, 2015 at Riverside National Cemetery with military honors at 11:01 AM.
