IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter Taylor
Carpentero
November 17, 1953 – July 12, 2025
Walter Taylor Carpentero, age 71, of Lake Forest, California, was born on November 17th, 1953 in the Philippines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Filomeno Carpentero and Hannah Taylor Carpentero; his siblings, Filomeno, Roger, Biernes, Judy and a half brother, Sosimo; his baby granddaughter, Lucy; and his nephew, Adam.
Walter was an avid bowler. He enjoyed playing in the Conquistadores league at Saddleback Lanes Bowling Alley in Mission Viejo, where he made many friends. He earned many trophies, even earning a fancy ring for bowling a 299 game. He liked 70's and 80's music, especially listening to the Bee Gees. His favorite sport was basketball and he always watched it on tv and he also played basketball with his friends at the park. He enjoyed fishing and took many boat trips out of Dana Point Harbor. Walter has family in Ontario and Los Angeles and made it a point to attend family gatherings for birthday parties. He enjoyed seeing his siblings, nieces and nephews. When his nephew Sidney obtained his drivers license, it was Uncle Walter who taught him to drive a manual transmission, in his little white Datsun pickup truck. He also enjoyed playing a board game called Aggravation with his in-laws on Sundays. He would team up with his wife's uncle, Uncle Don, and they would always say, "The Boys Are Back In Town," because they intended on playing and winning. When he wasn't bowling or fishing, he truly enjoyed cooking and was a home chef. A few of his culinary specialties were Filipino dishes- pancit, chicken adobo and lumpia. He liked working with his hands and did his own gardening. After losing his eyesight in 2013 he continued to tend to his garden. He planted fruits and vegetables and took very good care of them.
Walter is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra Jean Schillen Carpentero. They met while working at Mission Viejo Hospital. He worked in housekeeping and she was a switchboard operator. They married in 1978. He went on to work as a mail carrier for Mission Viejo Company and later worked at Ralph's Grocery store as a deli clerk until he retired. Walter and Sandra were both raised Christian, but didn't find a church home until a couple years ago. Together, they began attending Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Lake Forest and quickly found it to be a great fit for them to get reestablished with their Christian faith.
In addition to his wife Sandra, Walter is survived by his son, Walter Jr.; and daughter, Raquel; three grandsons, Jacob, Michael and Sonny; his maternal aunt, Josephine; his sisters, Ethyl and Rachel; and many nieces and nephews.
Walter passed away on July 12th, 2025. Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life on August 3rd from 1pm-4pm at McCormick and Son Mortuary in Laguna Hills, California.
