IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter Frederick
Floser
September 30, 1943 – February 23, 2024
Walter Frederick Floser, born September 30th, 1943 passed away Friday, February 23rd, 2024 in his San Clemente, CA home. He was lovingly known as Pappa Walter to his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Born to Walter and Bertha Floser, he is survived by his beloved sibling Mildred Smith (Floser), his son Ken, and daughter in law, Kris. He was preceded in death by his parents and a widower to the love of his life, Sharon Floser (Thayer), who passed away in November 2012
Walter was a loving husband, father to Ken and Ken's wife, Kris, Grandfather to Jacob, Jared and Jared's wife, Katie. Great Grandfather to Liam Walter, Blake, Isabelle, Holden and most recently, Charles Kenneth. In addition, Walter was a loving brother to Mildred, Uncle to Stephen and Martha and a Great Uncle to Ara and Isabella.
Walter and his wife (Sharon) moved to California in 1979 to fulfill their dream of moving to the coast and, also, Walter was a devoted educator as a Chemistry Professor at Irvine Valley and Saddleback College where he had close friendships with many of his colleagues and was passionate about his students, the college community and furthering his student's interest in the sciences and math.
Walter and Sharon extensively travelled the world and the United States together having visited most of the states and all the continents except two. Their home was full of photographs and memorabilia from their trips abroad. After his wife's death, Walter continued to travel on many adventures with his son's family, his sister and his friends and never missed an event with his son's family. Walter and his wife treasured their close friendships that were such an important part of their life. Most of all, Walter valued his family and friends above all.
Among many things, Walter loved football and particularly, college football, and was unbelievably great at picking the winner. He researched the players, coaches, and teams continuously. Ask anyone that knew him. If Walter was at your house during football season, you were watching football.
While Walter would not want people to be upset by his passing, but happy about the great life he lived and memories of the times he spent with us, it is a loss to us all. He was generous, overly kind and surrounded himself with a family that loved him. He will be greatly missed.
