A memorial service for Wanda Nell (Miller) DuBose of Laguna Woods, CA and formerly of Lubbock, TX will be held at Mission Viejo Church of Christ in Mission Viejo, CA on Saturday, May 7th at 10:00 AM, officiated by Minister Ed Bush. A reception will follow from 11:00 AM to noon. Wanda passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in Laguna Hills, CA.
Wanda was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on January 23, 1932. She grew up in Brady, TX and attended Brady High School. She graduated from the Shannon School of Nursing in San Angelo, TX in 1953 and was a practicing Registered Nurse for 43 years, serving primarily in Lubbock, TX. She married Leonard R. DuBose in 1954 and they raised four children in Lubbock. She was a devout Christian and was active in the Senior Adventures in Missions (SAIM) program at Sunset Church of Christ.
She moved to Laguna Woods, CA in 2019, enjoying her final years there with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy B. Miller Sr. and Odessa L. (Virdell) Miller, her brother Roy Buford Miller Jr., and her sister Barbara Miller Dowd. She is survived by her children, Kenneth R. DuBose (Judy), David R. DuBose, James B. DuBose (Susie), and Kathryn D. DuBose (Rodney Dailey). She is also survived by her grandchildren, who knew her fondly as "Nanny", Michael DuBose (Raquel), Ryan DuBose (Cheree), Christopher DuBose (Christina), Benjamin DuBose (Emily), Emily DuBose Harrell (Adam), Timothy DuBose, Jarrod Lovejoy (Jessica Baade), Angelina Grossi (Paul), Ferrari Locosio, 30 great-grandchildren, and her little dog, Maggie.
Wanda loved being with family and enjoyed cooking and eating good food, sewing, painting, jewelry making, and listening to big band music. She taught a bible class for many years at Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock and was active in her new church in Mission Viejo. She was truly a unique, loving, kindhearted, determined, and inspiring woman. Her legacy will stay alive in all her great-grandchildren and in future generations.
Following her memorial service, she will be interred at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Lubbock, TX. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to all those who played an important role in caring for Wanda throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
