Wayne E. Jones, age 77, of Laguna Woods, CA, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 from amyloidosis, due to his exposure to agent orange in Vietnam. He was born on October 9, 1935 in Flippin, KY to the late Mr. and Mrs. Rual Jones. He was a retired Sergeant Major in the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Marine Corps in January, 1954 and retired in October, 1979. His awards during this time of service include: Silver Star, Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal for Valor (2nd Award), Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (7th Award). National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Vietnam Service Medal (5 campaigns), Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and several unit awards. His love of God, family, and country were most important to him. He was the greatest husband, dad, Papa and Grandpa that could ever be. He held true to the three Corps values of a Marine: honor, courage, and commitment. He was held in high esteem by his Marine comrades. His survivors are his wife, Doris, of 55 years; sons and daughters-in-law, SFC Kenneth and Kathy Jones, of Greenback, TN, Timothy and Valerie Jones, of Corona, CA; grandchildren, Rebekah Jones Parker, of Greenback, TN, Raven and Tristan Jones, of Corona, CA; a sister, Lucinda Voils of IN; and many nieces and nephews.
