William Herbert Hinds III, 54 of Trabuco Canyon, passed away on May 18, 2024. Billy as he was fondly called by his friends and family, was born on April 14, 1970 to William Hinds Jr. and Sharon Hinds in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

After graduating from Mission Viejo High School in 1988, he went on to study history at San Diego State University. He answered his calling for education by becoming a history teacher at Los Alisos Intermediate School. After five years in the classroom, he saw the potential to impact true visionary change in education by becoming a high school administrator. He worked as an assistant principal at Mission Viejo High School and Laguna Hills High School before becoming the principal at Los Alisos Intermediate. For the last nine years Billy has been the beloved principal of Laguna Hills High School.

Billy has left his mark on every school he's worked for. Whether it was building a new science building at Mission Viejo High School or taking Los Alisos Intermediate out of program improvement, he was a leader in every sense of the word. Billy was a charismatic man with a dry sense of humor, strong presence, and a heart that embraced his staff and students.

Not only was Billy known as a good principal, he was known as a good person. His family meant everything to him. Billy's two children, Nathan and Alice, brought him more joy than anything in this world. His favorite times were spent camping with his family in Big Sur and surfing on his longboard in San Onofre. He loved planning adventures, reading crime fiction books, and cooking family dinners on the weekends.

While we mourn the loss of a beloved father and leader, we take solace in the countless lives Billy touched. Though Billy is gone from our sight, his influence will continue to resonate in the community and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Billy is survived by his son, Nathan, daughter, Alice and their mother, Monica. He is further survived by his mother, Sharon, and his  brother, Greg, and his sister, Geni.

Services for Billy are private but the Hinds family invites you to leave condolences below.
