William R. McGee of Arcadia, California, passed away on October 9, 2023, He was 93 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene, 2 daughters, April Cathcart and Marla Smer, 3 grandsons - Hayden, Jared and Sean, and his brother, Bob.

Bill was born on December 9, 1929, in Pembroke, Kentucky. After graduating from high school, Bill proudly served for 6 years in the United States Marine Corp from July 1948 to April 1955. He started his service as an Accounting Clerk and finished his service as a Veteran of the Korean War as a 1st Lieutenant.

After his military service, Bill worked for 38 years for the Automobile Club of Southern California (AAA).  He was also a member of the Masonic Temple for over 60 years.

Bill loved sports of every kind and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He belonged to the Santa Anita Golf Club in Arcadia, California and served in various positions on the Board including President. He was also a member of the Southern California Golf Association (Pub Links) holding various board positions for several years.  He loved watching all sports whether it was college or professional, baseball, basketball, football, hockey, or golf.

Bill was a wonderful husband and father, and an even more wonderful grandfather as he truly loved spending time with his three grandsons. He taught all three how to play golf and fish. He attended every soccer, football, volleyball, and hockey game that he could. He and Irene came down to Mission Viejo every Friday from grade school to high school to spend time with them, delivering specially ordered lunches and spoiling them rotten. He loved his grandsons so very, very much and could not have been prouder of them.

Bill's funeral service will take place on November 16th at 11:30am at Riverside National Cemetery.
