Obituary
Bill was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts February 26, 1940 to Robert and Doris Ordway.
He's is the oldest of four brothers – Bill, Tom, Bob and Mike. When Bill was about five and Tom two, the family moved to Los Angeles for their Dad's Business. They grew up in Inglewood and attended St Paul's Catholic Grade School. Bill went on to Loyola High School and Loyola University where he earned his degree in Engineering. He was in the ROTC Program and a member of Phi Kappa Theta National Catholic Fraternity.
After graduation in 1963 Bill began his Air Force commitment in Albuquerque, New Mexico at Kirkland Air Force base. There, he met his wife Angela at the local Catholic Alumni Club where he was President. After completing his enlistment as an officer, they were married in 1966. Their life together began in Los Angeles. He worked for Pacific Bell. Their son Robert was born in 1967. In 1968 Bill was transferred to AT&T in New York City. Elizabeth was born in Albuquerque, where the family stayed during the move. Michael, Anne Mary and Mary Louise were born in Berkley Heights, New Jersey. All were present for Angela and Bill's seventh anniversary.
In 1974, Bill transferred back to Pacific Bell in San Francisco working with Mobil Phone Service. They lived in Lafayette. Bill earned his MBA from Golden Gate University.
Then, in 1983, the family relocated to Southern California as Bill transitioned to the Cellular business as Vice President and Chief Engineer. He designed the original LA Cellular System, which was up and running for the 1984 Olympics.
From there he became a Cellular/Business Consultant working around the world in such places as Kuwait, Italy, Yugoslavia, Trinidad Tobago and Mexico City, often during times of chaos.
In 1998 he and Angela moved to Laguna Beach.
They have eight wonderful grandchildren.
Through the years Bill and Angela were always active in the children's schools, the church and the community.
He left this world peacefully after a long struggle with cancer on January 30, 2015.
His life was full and blessed.
Mass will be celebrated in memory of Bill on Saturday February 7, 2015 1:00PM. Reception immediately following in Church Meeting Rooms.
