Wolfgang Alfred Theodor Behrend, also known as Wolf, born in Magdeburg Germany on June 16, 1925, made his transition at the age of 90 years on Sunday September 20, 2015, in his home in Laguna Woods due to aspiration. His memorial service will take place at Center for Spiritual Living Saddleback Valley, 23181 Verdugo Drive, Suite 103-B, Laguna Hills, CA 92653 on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM with lunch to follow.
Wolf's beloved wife of 61 years, Christel Anna Hedwig Käte Behrend made her transition 6 years before him on July 2, 2009. They both loved to take cruises and loved being by the ocean. Both of their ashes will be disbursed on Friday October 2, 2015 off of Danna Point. Only family will attend.
Wolf has been survived by his daughter Marion Behrend Wishall, her husband Patrick Wishall, Wolf's grandchildren Elisabeth and Michael Bower, Benjamin Wishall, Stacy and Curt Carlson, and his great-grandchildren Kaley Neil, Phoebe Neil and Pearl Wishall.
Wolf was always a gentleman. He grew up in war torn Germany. Both he and Mom often said they never had a childhood. He and Mom met in Lübeck Germany after both had fled to West Germany. They each had their own stories as to how they fled East Germany, something we would see on a movie and not believe one could have done so. Wolf tied his belt to the bottom of a train and then held himself up with his feet and hands until he got to West Germany.
Wolf became a Master Dental Technician in Germany. By the age of 20 he was the supervisor in a dental lab. He was hired by the owner of Shaw Dental Labs in Toronto, Canada. This is what brought the family to Canada. Wolf and Christel were always hard workers and lived the Canadian and American dream, a house with a white picket fence. In 1962 Wolf brought his family to Los Angeles California. He continued his profession but started to get interested in the stock market. He was an avid reader and always said "you don't need a college degree if you educate yourself by reading". His second profession was the stock market. He focused on this fulltime from the day he sold his dental lab, Chriwo Dental Labty, until two years before his passing.
The family requests that flowers not be sent, however if you would rather make a donation to either the Wounded Warrior Project, Inc. https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org, or Guide Dogs of America http://www.guidedogsofamerica.org/1/how-to-help/gifts-in-memory-honor/, it would be greatly appreciated.
To Those I Love and Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now its time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on,
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you cannot see or touch me, I'll be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone
I'll greet you with a smile and say,
"Welcome Home!"
