Obituary

Xavier Chung-Pah Lee, born June 23rd, 1929 in Malang, Indonesia, passed without any undue suffering on Friday April 10th 2020 at his home in Laguna Woods. He finally succumbed to pulmonary arterial hypertension at the age of 90. Xavier left his caring devoted wife Virginia, his two loving sons Myron and Chris, daughter-in-law Laura, his two beloved grandsons Preston and Griffin, Chris' partner Lavinia, and granddog Nesta.
Xavier left Indonesia to pursue his undergraduate studies in Taiwan, then moved to the US where he continued his education, receiving a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tennessee. After graduation, Xavier married Virginia in 1963 and started a wonderful life journey of 56 years, using their first savings to buy an old Volkswagen Bug. His hard work and determination propelled him to a successful career, supporting his family, putting his 2 sons through school, and realizing the American Dream. He dedicated 25 years of his career to Nortel. During this time, he and his wife made the difficult choice of temporarily leaving his sons and moving to Hong Kong for several years where he served as Director of Marketing China for Nortel.

Having lost his own father at the age of 14, and being one of ten siblings raised by his mother, he understood the value of family and the sacrifices it takes early on. He was always there for his sons, from the soccer games, clapping embarrassingly loud on the sidelines, to their graduations, always instilling priceless values much appreciated by them.
Xavier was a great role model, always a sincere and kind soul, selfless, a man of unparalleled honesty, integrity, and desire to do the right thing. He loved good food, good music and singing Karaoke, he loved the company of good friends, and traveling the world. He will always be remembered for his bright smile and sense of humor. He loved sports, was an avid tennis player, he loved watching basketball with his sons, and in his later years he loved playing ping-pong with Virginia, always letting her win.

Due to the Corona virus lockdown, an e-wake will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020, 12:00 p.m. at the McCormick & Son Mortuary 25002 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92637.

The family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 801 Roeder Road, Suite 1000, Silver Spring, MD 20910 or make a memorial gift online as a Tribute Gift at https://phassociation.org/donate/ .
