On our 35th wedding anniversary, Sunday, February 23rd, 2020, my beloved wife and soul mate, Yoshiko Rayney, mother of four children, passed away at age 83. Yoshi was born on November 20, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA to Kunito Takai and Michiko Takemitsu.
For over twenty years she has struggled with many medical issues. However despite the many challenges she has always been a very giving person. She was always willing to help either human or animal in need.
She had a very challenging life which started with being incarcerated at Manzana in Inyo County, California. Manzana is best known as the site of one of ten American internment camps, where more than 120,000 Japanese Americans were incarcerated during World War II from December 1942 to 1945. While in the camp she suffered abuse and when they were released from their incarceration, they were transported to Utah where she and her siblings (Tomiko and Richard) started their young lives working in the fields.
Yoshi had four children (Albert, Robert Kirk and Ron) and after unsuccessful marriages raised her children up on her own and continued to work until she was 60. At 60 she retired from her position as Legal Assistant for Philip H Acosta after about 13 years.
On February 23rd, 1985 she married Peter Rayney an Englishman that spoke with a funny accent and even funnier chosen vocabulary. After many years she soon realized he spoke English (not exactly Queens English) and she spoke American. She found out that a vest did not mean a waistcoat but that her husband was trying to find his under shirts! That a bonnet referred to the hood of a car and when her husband was looking for nappies, he really meant diapers! Despite this language barrier they survived all the ups and downs, the heart aches and the happier times for 35 years.
Rest in peace my beloved and enjoy the new pain free existence.
